back at it again with once again another attempt to complete a low-ish poly 3d character, this time following sorry stacy's 3d character tutorial!!

just a quick note for anyone first starting out who might want to follow the tutorial - it's not beginner friendly, i recommend following crashsune's tutorial series first instead, it's much more in depth with explanations and it's what i used at first to get familiar with blender overall :3c i'm an example of someone who failed the infamous donut tutorial many many times. and even after somewhat managing to get to the end once, i had to skip a lot of the confusing rendering and post-render stuff. this is the result of that nightmare:

it doesn't look all that bad but it definitely doesn't look like a realistic donut either..

blender is definitely something you don't have (and is almost impossible) to learn all of in a lifetime, just because there are so many features that won't necessarily apply to everyone. for me, following a tutorial specifically for the thing i wanted to create helped way better and faster than trying to make a photorealistic donut. also i genuinely don't think you can get good enough with just one tutorial series either way. but enough yapping i wanna show my cool stuff :-]

this time i'm making mono!! maybe when i've got more practice in i'll try inertia but currently i think she'd make my brain explode. i already want to roll into a hole in the ground trying to draw her hair (and whose fault is that)

i start off with a cute a-pose turnaround as my reference as pictured above! i didn't include the side-view reference because i got really lazy with that and it looks really stupid. most of the time i end up winging the side view when modelling anyway so i don't tend to put a lot of effort into drawing other angles when making references.

this is the full model.. (step 1 draw a circle step 2 draw the entire completed illustration) i have to say i am Very super pleased with how this turned out, and i also had fun in the process :0c her braids i had to kinda wing it cuz i didnt know how else to do it. oh well. i tried

unfortunately. that is the end of my fun time.

BRING IN THE RIGGING AND WEIGHT PAINTING

sorry to say this is as far as i got at this point as of writing. rigging is boring at best and weight painting is an absolute nightmare i'm too scared to tackle. i probably have to look up more tutorials on weight painting because to this day i still dont fully get the horror that is weight painting. but i told myself that if i wanna do the cool texture painting i gotta get through this first.. but i still dont want to deal with the monster that will be the result of me weightpainting or rigging incorrectly !!!!(shiver)

i really love the look of sorry stacy's models so i was very pleased to see that she had a tutorial series, and following that so far has been really satisfying!! im so excited to maybe finish it.. hopefully .. it'd be so cool to see mono animated hgkdjakjajaah unfortunately the only time i ever finished a 3d character model was for artfight and i didn't even end up animating it, so hopefully this time i'll be able to somewhat successfully get to the completed product (as long as weight painting doesnt kick me in the ass).. i really want to make cool 3d characters!!

hopefully i'll update with progress soon. i need to find someone to hold me accountable for my in-progress landfill
