participated in some workshops today for the first day of my school's art festival!! tomorrow its stalls and performances and everything and im super excited cuz i get to wear the shirt i designed the graphic for :3c unforch cant show it here 4 privacy reasons but just imagine cool stuff.

i was lucky asf to get the workshops that were more artsy. plus i got all the same ones as my sibling so that was awesome ^o^ my first out of three workshops was stop motion animation which ive been dying to try since forever. used sibling's mascot cuz he was easy to make. his name is crechur (ku-re-chuh or something like that) copyrighted by sib

for some reason they gave us air dry clay so at some point the lines stopped sticking onto the paper so u can see it moving,, but its fine id say its pretty good 4 our first time doing stop motion o(* ̄▽ ̄*)o

the plot is crechur draws a self portrait but it becomes 3d and he's shocked so he takes out an eraser. its partially inspired by those gacha movies of the mc drawing a hot guy and he becomes real. idk i never actually watched those. hated child becomes hybrid princess supremacy

we struggled so much to make him not fall over but for some reason it took us a really long time to realise we could just make his feet slightly concave and he'd stop trying to take naps so for the first half of the animation he had to lean on his gigantic pencil

i also think it was ingenious to use perspective for floating elements like the exclamation mark if i do say so myself ....

ahem anyways i had alot of fun with this one!!we had lots of silly time

next we had a puppet making workshop which was probably the most fun cuz it was so engaging. actually its between this and stop motion

this was a more drama-oriented workshop so for the first half there were alot of games that had something to do with performance or showing something to an audience. there was one where we had to basically use people to build objects like houses and cars, and the point was to have distinct features that would allow an audience to immediately and clearly understand what we were trying to convey. so for example a simple house would need a roof, the main body and maybe a door. kind of related but it made me think about how it's the same concept in character design where you dont want to muddy the silhouette of the character with too many details or indistinct shapes. very interesting that a concept can be applied in more than one thing :3c

after a bunch of other perhaps icebreaker games we started the puppet making part. we were given limited resources but the most important part was delivering the performance, which was non-verbal and relied on gestural cues.each group had balloons for the puppet heads that kept exploding, which was quite the misfortune for the puppets and my ears.

our puppet had a very fancy fedora and studded glasses plus a really fire fit consisting of a long sleeved dark grey shirt and plaid vest. he was unfortunately an amputee which resulted in me having to wave his floppy sleeves for the performance..

in the end my group had a plot somewhere along the lines of mr detective balloon head visits mortuary to inspect dead bodies, goes home and gets stabbed in the neck on the way. not to give myself too much credit but i did come up with the idea that a detective becomes the victim of a crime while investigating it.. not to give myself too much credit

i Really like how all the ideas sort of came together despite having the 4 groups merge together into two. the other group we merged with had a puppet with paper as clothes which reminded us of a doctor and thus inspired the mortuary scene. the balloon heads kept falling off the neck so we decided that the detective would get stabbed in the neck, which was very appropriate considering the red tape that was used for the previous years' puppets. i cannot describe the cinema of bros head falling off his body as he got stabbed

there was also a lot of improvisation which made it alot more fun. this is saying alot because improvisation is the one thing i can never do right. but somehow we managed to make it work here and it was sooo satisfying :-) am i secretly a drama student..?!?!? (no u couldn't even TALK to an audience in a life or death situation)

last workshop was designing an alternative book cover! i picked sakadays cuz why the hell not. it was really chill and i had a good time, it'd been quite a while since i properly sat down and did a piece with just pencil and eraser like this so that was awesome (∩_∩)

thats it 4 today! tomorrow will prolly make another post for the Real arts fest shit yo

and will be going home later this week for summer holiday. omg im so excited to sleep in everyday for like 1.5 months
