spoilers for black clover in the links attached, but i sort of went down a short rabbit hole around a mysterious person who only had 4 google pages..
so like. just now my sibling was rewatching black clover on her tablet and asked me if a character was voiced by nobunaga shimazaki (he also voices yuno in black clover). i was pretty sure he was, since i initially assumed yuno was speaking during that scene, but i went to look it up anyway.
the character in question is lemiel, whose voice actor is, in fact, not listed as shimazaki. that was strange, because when i heard lemiel speak, i was very confident shimazaki was his voice actor. so i did a bit of digging.
however, upon looking up "hikari syu", one of the first few images google pulls up.. is of shimazaki????
apparently, thbis site used an image of shimazaki in the entry for hikari syu. what's even weirder is the fact the listed birthday is also shimazaki's, and that under "related fact sheets" and "personality" (google translated, the site is not in english. don't quote me on its accuracy) it lists shimazaki as "other name" .. okay, so it's an alias??
my question in the end is why shimazaki would have an alias (if the fact is true), and why the black clover wiki would list it as such.. myanimelist lists hikari and shimazaki both as voice actors of lemiel, which makes everything even more confusing.
anime news network lists syu hikari's birth name as nobunaga shibazaki, and while the b is definitely a typo, i can't imagine why a few different sites would list both hikari and shimazaki together. my only theory is that one site got mistaken and all other more minor sites got misinformed.
funnily enough, the myanimelist entry for syu hikari lists the birthday and website of leader/guitarist of power metal band galneryus, syu. another website mistakenly uses his picture as well, which is just funny to me lol
of course, the answer is i'm looking too much into this. but it's fun, and i thought it'd be fun to make a blog post about it, sort of like a detective game or one of those horror documentaries i like watching on youtube .. haha..
okk 5:29 edit so behind the voice actors' entry on lemiel/lumiere has a tooltip thing when hovering over shimazaki's card that basically the voice actor was identified by ear, since there were no official sources for lemiel's actual voice actor. okay that's interesting. either way, im willing to bet that lemiel's actual voice actor is shimazaki, because his voice is just so iconic it couldn't be any other. it's just curious that there's a lack of official evidence about a character, though. i've never encountered such a thing. end of investigation, thanks for coming 2 my tedtalk
actually i haven't thought to check the credits in the ending cutscenes..
i went and did that and it really does list hikari syu as his voice actor. that is So Weird..
