if consciousness is formed by the brain, a network of electrical signals, doesn't that mean that the internet, which is also a network of electrical signals, could potentially form a consciousness? are the behaviours of many individuals forming a crowd equitable to the behaviours of many cells forming an organism? can a crowd of people form a consciousness? can I dream of a conscious being? can I create something that is alive, that lives within my own mind? would that creature be real? what does it mean to be real? sorry I watched lain yesterday

my question is how has your day been! good I hope :)

let me pose a question to you first: is conciousness formed by the brain, or does it occur naturally with it?

think about it - strictly speaking, i think most agree that animals also have some form of consciousness, albeit on a lower level than us. if consciousness just means an awareness of something, then certainly the internet must be a consciousness. but is it conscious on its own accord, or are we the ones supplying the internet this consciousness? similarly, as you have mentioned, the internet may be an immeasurably colossal crowd. if we are the cells doing our part in this world, then the internet would essentially be the organism we are responsible for as a result of our behaviours. but if an organism is said to be a living individual, where does the internet - and in part, society - stop being an individual and just spills out into billions of small, divided cells?

who are we to say that we're not in some unknowable being's endless dream? if you could dream someone into existence, wouldn't they be a part of your consciousness? the voice inside your head - is that not already a being inside you? are you separate from it? would you consider yourself - your consciousness - separate from your body?

whether anything is real is entirely, ultimately up to us. i do not think that we, as humans, can fully comprehend reality, let alone what it really (excuse the pun) is. instead, we are sufficient in accepting what we live in as reality, even if it might turn out to be someone else's dream all along.

thanks so much for asking ^o^ i had fun with this question lol, i must confess i went onto wikipedia to look up its definition of consciousness, and thus went down a tiny rabbit hole.. i've also admittedly fired back a lot of questions, but such is the nature of philosophical discussions like this, if you're willing to call it that lol. if u r interested, there's a podcast i really like (the rest is science) that might have an episode on consciousness one day which im still waiting on.. (only mentioned, but a good podcast to listen to nonetheless)

lain also seems really interesting and id love to watch it sometime once i get everything else off my schedule .. but my days have been awesome! hope yours have too

Hello! I'm Saint, as it says in the Name.. obviously. I've been a huge fan of your site for months.. or somethin'! I don't know how long honestly.

I've been wondering how you did your old Navigation bar in your old layout? The part where it switches over to a different Navigation bar (E.G. One clicks on art, the navigation bar shows new options for art pages specifically.) I remember studying the code way back when, but I haven't been able to figure it out, haha.

Do you perhaps still have said code for the navigation bar? If not (and if you still have knowledge on the matter / have a guide I can look at), are you able to let me in on it, lol? I'd love to know how ya did it!!

(I hope you have a more visual approach on the matter.. maybe? I dunno!)

hi saint!! thanks so much for following my site's progress for so long :-0

as for the navigation code, for now you can access the script from here! dont worry if you still cant get it, i actually have plans to do a tutorial on it, and maybe clean up the code sometime lol

while im working on that, you can access the site's web archive and use the html inspector (ctrl shift c) to get an idea of the html as well ^o^ this should help a little in terms of a visual way to understand

just in case you're still unsure, i'll just do a quick explanation here!! im not too sure how much you may or may not know, but i'll just go over some aspects that might be a little confusing. the "url" in between the parantheses in "function setURL(url)" is basically an input, so if you take a look at the html you'll see in the inline javascript code i put "setURL('/abt.html')" for one of the buttons! then it sets the iframe's content to that link

for each toggle function, it sets the buttons' inline javascript so that they get their own "setURL(url)" when you click on the main button to show the subtabs and their corresponding titles! the rest of the code is pretty much the same :-)

it might take a while for me to put out the full guide, so hope that clears some things up for now! i totally understand needing some visuals, so i'll be sure to include some when i write the guide !! thanks so much for asking, and have a wonderful awesome time ♪(^∇^*)

Hi! Saint again!! Just wanted to say thank you for the nav JS.. finally figured out how it works. I now have a new inquiry!!!

How do you set up your latest blog section, the actual blog page itself & its posts? Google freaking SUCKs when it comes to explaining these things (this is mostly just an issue on my end because.. English is Hard.), so I've just opted to asking you again, lol.

Is it all just basically new pages with HTML/CSS? I honestly hope not, since I sound silly asking this question then, HAHA!

(Can you tell I really like the look of your sites, both old and current, with all the questions I ask? Hehe.) Anyhow, Hope you have a nice day!

hello again saint :-) glad it helped and that you figured it out! have fun playing around with it for your site ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

if i understand your question correctly, my blog page & the latest posts are manually updated with new entries, as well as the previous/next entry links in each post! i don't have a clue as to how i'd be able to automate the process (my guess would be php, but nekoweb unfortunately doesn't support that, and i don't think i'm ready to learn it just yet (@_@;)) so the best i can do at this point is enter the details into each separate page every time i write a new post.

hope that answered your question!! i understand the struggle with looking up a very niche/specific issue lol. and yep english is Hard with a capital H (i say with my english as a first language mouth)

im super glad you like my site that much, it's also really nice to answer your questions !! thanks so much for your inquiry this time, always happy to help out with any webdev related stuff ( •̀ ω •́ )b

OMG, I'm such a goober, I put a link in my last message, so here it is again without the link. :1

Hey there, I'm still new to static sites. I was wondering if you could explain a little about the culture/story about static sites or at least lead me to where I can learn more about it. Also, I added you as a neighbor to my site bayne, nekoweb, org. Hopefully that doesn't get removed.

Praytell, did your spring semester go well? Mine was ROUGH, lol. Have a great day. :P

hallo bayne! soz abt the link situation, i should probably find a way to automatically block the link straight from the form instead of having to filter it after it's submitted, but for now ty for dropping by! i've added your button as well :3c

anyhow. gonna try my best to explain but i'm not an expert, so this is mostly just my understanding from what i've seen and read. to put it simply, static sites look the same for all users! what this means is there's no generating assets or elements using javascript. a static site is displayed exactly as you've written your html, while a dynamic site might have extra sections that are inserted when the site loads that are different for each user. for example, personal sites are i think prime examples of static sites, while sites like social media and online shopping sites are dynamic sites!

for some further reading, i can direct you to this article on geeksforgeeks.org, as well as some reddit threads that explain this way better than i could: what exactly is the difference between a static and dynamic website in terms of users interacting with the website?, trying to understand static vs dynamic websites. if you'd like you can always look up "static vs dynamic sites" and look through some of the sites, but i personally just don't like visiting random sites and having to fight with the cookie box lol. happy reading ^o^

my spring semester was good! aside from the unavoidable crazier days.. but good ;-) thanks for asking, sorry 2 hear you had a difficult semester >_< hope you get to rest during the summer holidays if you have them!

consciousness is both formed by brain and naturally because we are living beings full of balance.

your art is so pretty i wish we could connect and share ideas. you can find me on tiktok i use the same username

yeah i can see how that can be true! ngl im excited to witness more discoveries being made about the brain in the future :3c

anyways hii!! thank you sm for ur nice comment (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) id love to discuss more but i dont use tiktok unfortunately </3 anything u wanna bring up for conversation feel free to do it through this contact form, or u could provide me an email i could write to(that i wont share obvs)!! peace, hope ur week's been awesome

'Tis I, once again, Saint! Was wondering, who's mysterious hand is the cursor? I was personally searching for Hand cursors for whatever reason I now forgot, but it made me remember your site had a funky hand! Now I'm curious, is it a photograph of your own hand? Is it someone else's? Is it a drawing perhaps?? The people (Only Me.) want to know!!!

hellooo tis good 2 see ur message again saint! it is indeed my hand (* >ω<) its pretty easy to do! i used remove.bg to remove the background and then edited it in ibispaint x, but ofc u may use any editing program you're comfortable with, or not at all if you're satisfied with how it looks from the get go! it's just a matter of making sure your normal cursor and and pointer cursor align somewhat, but again that's of course your choice ( =^ω^)

thanks again and always for ur questions! always a pleasure to help :3

btw i'd love to visit ur site sometime! if u dont mind the idea it'd be cool if u could just pop the domain (without the https) into the contact box! but if not thats not a problem at all o(^o^)o have an awesome week ahead !!

saint

HAH! Did not expect to be back with ANOTHER question so soon.. wondering how you did the controller.. controllar? Whatever, forget about spelling! The X and O icons for your detail summary thingy!! (Also wondering how you put the brackets around them when you hover... so cool..)

Also, I very much enjoy how lovely the backgrounds for your pages are.. they're all so unique 'n' lovely... assuming that you usually make your backgrounds, I wonder where ya get such creativity & image resources to make 'em!

FORGOT TO ASK THIS TOO, (maybe you can attach it to my Previous inquiry if you manually edit these, lol.) ALSO wondering how you do the little dotted line things before the linkss.. ty..

kro returns with the answers to ur questions .. (albeit a little slower than usual. life and stuff, yaknow (づ ̄3 ̄)but as always, appreciate you dropping by!!!!)

you can change the icons of the pseudo element ::marker! if you expand the <summary> tag in your inspector you'll be able to see how i do it ^o^ basically, just use list-style-image on your summary tag and you're good to go! :3c to change the icon when it's opened, just target it using "details[open] > summary" and again using list-style-image (≧∀≦)

i do the brackets and dotted line thing using the ::before and ::after pseudo elements of their respective elements! for brackets, you target those pseudo elements and then use content: "[", and for the dotted lines, i just used border properties ^_^ again, you can inspect the style of pseudo elements by expanding the tags (in this case the ones you're looking for will be my <p> tags)

and glad you like my backgrounds! your comments mean a lot (●ˇ∀ˇ●) i use ibispaint x and my own photos to make them! if you're interested to try making some yourself you might wanna stay tuned for when i write up that tutorial on this exact thing i've been putting off for.. a while ..

ps hope you dont mind me literally stitching your two messages together w/o edits. i wasn't sure how to put them together without breaking the flow of the message, but in the end i thought it was kinda a trivial thing to worry over. cheers

Your art is so freaking cool, I need to add some of mine to my site... but for future reference, are you open to art trades? I totally would have added you on artfight but I got soo burnt out ToT
